Area Information

Millom is a small ex-mining town on the far SW tip of Cumbria where the south coast and the west coast meet. It has a rail station which allows commuting up the west coast to Sellafield and Whitehaven, or across to Barrow in Furness (35 minutes) and onwards to Lancaster. The town has all usual amenities such as a supermarket, leisure centre, doctors, dentists, vets, pubs and several restaurants/takeaways, as well as Fergusons which is a general 'find anything here' kind of place. Just 1 mile away is Haverigg beach and the fabulous Beach Cafe for butties/a fry up and a brew after a long walk along the sands. Getting to key Lakeland spots is easy with roads in 3 directions. Eskdale is 40 minutes, Wasdale 50 minutes, Ravenglass 30 minutes, Duddon Valley 15 minutes, Coniston 40 minutes and even Ambleside only usually takes an hour by car.
